Baby #2 is on the way!

So, Kristy is about 11-ish weeks pregnant. I’m sure by now you guys may have seen Ben’s PSA, but if not you should know that he is going to be a big brother. Ben’s pretty excited about the whole ordeal, but I’m pretty sure his Grandma Cook coached him into saying that he would have a baby sister… Well, boys and girls, it turns out that the ultrasound captured an early indicator that Ben may in fact be having a baby brother on the way. It’s still a bit too early to tell, so we’re going to get another scan in 3 weeks. Kristy said I can’t name him Franklin, but I thought it would be great if both of the kids got in trouble… BENJAMIN! FRANKLIN! GET YOUR BUTTS OVER HERE RIGHT NOW!!!
C’mon, you know you’d do it, too…Anyhow, click on the picture for a refrigerator-sized version of the ultrasound images.

Ben!

Ben is growing up so fast! He can wall-crawl along the pool now after being shown only once. He is learning things at an amazing pace right now, and of course he's also super cute. We're overdue for a video, so here you go!

Patio Patio, Concrete Man…

Our old patio was a death trap, so we decided to go nuts and put in a new one. We had to dig up a bunch of bricks and rotten wood from the old patio, bring in a truck load of dirt, haul that dirt uphill to the back yard (thank God for the guy who invented the Georgia bucket…), and then have concrete pumped into the form, which was my favorite part because I didn’t have to do anything. Anyhow, I have pictures here and a couple of videos below. Enjoy! Oh, I almost forgot; triops has 3 eyes.

Disney on Ice

Suzie and I have wanted to take our Girl Scouts to Disney on Ice since we started our troop 5 years ago, partly because we thought the girls would enjoy it, but mostly because we really wanted to go. We finally worked it into the schedule this year and had it all planned for 6 girls coming, a few parents, me, and Suzie. Maybe we’re just Disney dorks and the girls aren’t as excited about Disney as we are or maybe they’re too busy now that they’re teenagers, but by last night we were down to 2 girls, 2 parents, me and Suzie. At the last minute, we gave the leftover tickets to Suzie’s family, Kim, Ali, Will, Kate, & Dave. Our Girl Scout trip quickly became a family and friends trip, but we had fun anyways and hopefully the two girls that came had fun too.

Kate & Dave brought their daughter, Charlotte, who is a couple weeks older than Ben. I figured if they thought she could make it through the show, then maybe Ben could. If not, at least I’d have someone to sympathize with me when Ben started screaming. My fears were all for naught - Ben loved it! He was the best little boy ever all night long. He slept most of the way over to Pensacola (perfect since we were keeping him up past bedtime…), ate most of his dinner (calmly, without throwing food on the floor), and was completely enthralled with the show (except for a brief moment during the princesses dance - who can blame him, he got bored!). He got a little upset when Belle was crying over Beast before he turned into the prince, but he just needed a little reassurance that Beast was okay. :) It was quite adorable. He even enjoyed sitting with Ali for a large part of the night, giving me a much enjoyed break! Here are some pictures of Ben and Charlotte enjoying the show and each other. I think Will even enjoyed it!
